Shift the Power
Wash your hands- IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS; Social Distancing- BUT CLOSER TO GOD
What are we fighting?
We are constantly being told that we are fighting a virus, but that isn’t really the fight. The virus is the weapon . . . but it isn’t the enemy. There are two forces in this world- Good VS Evil, and the captains of these two teams are God and Satan. God is all powerful, but Satan is always at work to gain enough power in an effort to overcome the Lord.
Covid 19 is clearly Satan’s latest attempt to win over the people, and he is gaining strength from us. He is fueled with darkness, deceit, and despair. He is using fear to steal our joy. He is whispering in our ears and we are listening. His whispers have turned us into his minions and we are doing his work. He has led us to greed with people hoarding selfishly. He has put us in isolation. He has canceled our celebrations and has even managed to close our churches. It is not the virus we should be afraid of. We should be fearing Satan’s power over us. Understand this- the Devil is squealing with delight.
You know that scene in Aladdin when Jafar becomes more evil, and he grows in physical size and power? That is what is happening with our enemy through our behavior during this virus. The scales are tipping.
There is Good News!
What the enemy intends to use to destroy us, God uses to make us strong.
God is whispering too. A small boy has put into action the display of Christmas lights as a way to spread joy. Christmas! The birth of Jesus Christ! Our President has given us the hope of opening our economy by Easter. Easter! The day that Jesus rose from the dead!
You are hearing about people donating food and personal protective equipment. Messages of cheer are being written on driveways and side walks. People are asking for prayers and we are encouraging one another. This is the work of God.
Do you really think we are going to fight off Satan with toilet paper and hand sanitizer? Not a chance.
Ephesians 6:10-12 Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
We need to shift the power.
What if every time we saw or heard the words, “Wash your hands,” we added the phrase “In the blood of Jesus”. And whenever we see or hear “Social Distancing” we add “But closer to God”
Every time we speak the Lord’s name. Every time we show love and kindness. Every time we refrain from spreading fear, but instead promote peace, hope, and love. Every time we pray, sing songs of praise, read our Bibles. Every time we do these things, the enemy loses power. His grasp on us grows weak, and the power is shifted to our Lord and Savior. We need to denounce the power Satan has over us and turn to the Lord. You want to see how to fight the enemy? I suggest watching the movie “War Room”. That woman learned how to shift the power.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
