Dream…. Medium?
Have dreams, but know it falls on God in the end.
Dream Big
I really love the song Dream Big by Ryan Shupe and the Rubberbands. It was one I often included in the end of the school year slideshow.
The concept of this song is to dream big, and not give up. To face challenges with strength and to soar with the good times. Dry your tears. See the beauty. Laugh out loud and pray for strength.
Dream Small
I equally love the song Dream Small by Josh Wilson.
This song says while we should dream big, it’s the smaller moments in life that make the biggest changes in our world. Let Jesus use you where you are. Help others. Love, serve, listen, seek.
Dream ….. Medium?
While I love both of these songs, I feel like I want a third song that compliments these two ideas. I don’t think Dream Medium is a good title, but it would give more instruction on dreams and goals.
Words of Wisdom
I am blessed to have not only raised these two great people, but we also work together at the office. They are both hard working, independent, and ambitious young people. They have dreams and put into action what needs to be done. But having lived life longer, I have learned to work smarter, not harder.
Something I figured out along the way is that God’s will will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 says “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” They may want a successful career, a big beautiful home and a full bank account, but that is not the purpose for being here. We may end up with those things, but that is not our PURPOSE.
We can have big dreams and work toward them, but what we really need to do is hand it over to the Lord. “God, this is what I want in this life. I am willing to work for it, but I trust You. If it is your will, help me achieve it. And if it isn’t what you have planned for me, open my eyes and ears, and lead me down that path.”
Once you give it to God, look for the small ways to serve and love Him. Show kindness. Love one another. Read His word. Seek the lessons the Lord wants you to learn. By doing the Lord’s work, he can work on our dream for us. One of two things will happen. Either He will make all of your dreams come true, or he will bless you in ways greater than you could have ever imagined. It’s a win win! You can’t lose when God is working for you.
I know my children know how to dream big, but I pray they know to dream small as well. I pray they work smart by letting God do the big stuff and they concentrate on the small ways God wants to use them.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for blessing me with the job of raising Cassidie and Zachary. I pray that you are pleased with what I did and I thank you for guiding me along the way. Lord, I pray that they learn to give their dreams to you. I pray that they offer themselves to be your servant, and allow for your plans to lead them through these young adult years. Help me help them. Give me words. Stop me from intruding and interfering. As much as I want them to trust you with their dreams, I want to trust You with their lives. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
