Under Construction
I have faith God will activate this button
Short version for my brother: If you don’t do it, you won’t do it.
This morning I was finishing up the book Don’t Give Up by Kyle Idleman. Although this chapter was about being entangled in sin, I stopped short with the following quote. “We have so much work to do in this world. Let’s get to it. The operative element in the story is faith. The power is all in Christ, but faith is the button that activates it.”
God puts people in our lives for a reason
Later that day I met a woman to help feed the hungry. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t what I expected. I guess I assumed I would be among a group of people affiliated with an organization. I expected to wear a hair net and gloves as I serve those in need. It wasn’t anything like that. It was ONE woman, who saw a need and got to work. She had gone to the market to buy what she could. Came home and started to prepare dinner. Mind you, this was all on a Thursday after work. Things were busy with her daily life, son, dogs, husband, employees . . . the kind of busyness we all deal with, and yet, here she was preparing meals for 24 people that are homeless and wondering where they would get the next meal.
I made the connection to the mornings devotions.
We can’t wait for circumstances to be perfect to fulfill the work of God. If he calls us to do something, we just have to do it, and have faith that He will make it all come together. Although the Lord used me to help feed the hungry, I think he actually wanted me to be the one to gain something. He doesn’t want me to wait for this website to be perfect. There are many parts to this thing I have not figured out. But I am not going to wait! So here it is. I trust that if God wants this part to be more effective, He will work it out. As my sister in law (and best friend) is known to say, “If you don’t do it, you won’t do it”.
